Join CCSD for 3 days of high-altitude training on the the splendid roads around Mammoth Lakes, CA; Bishop, CA; and Big Pine, CA. Sleep and train in the high Sierras at altitude.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This camp prepares athletes for the following example events (or other similar events during August through November):

  • Everest Challenge, September 24 to 25, 2011
  • Furnace Creek 508, October 1, 2011
  • High Sierra Century, September 10, 2011
  • White Mountain Double Century, September 11, 2011
  • Solvang Autumn Double Century, October 15, 2011

    This camp is also great for category racers looking for a late season boost of altitude training!

LODGING

All lodging is in condo-style units with fully-equipped kitchens and bathrooms. Single units may have one occupant or a couple (for an additional fee). Shared units have 3 occupants, each with their own bedroom, plus shared kitchen and shared bathroom.

IN-DEPTH QUALITY TRAINING

This camp will provide in-depth, intensive training sessions through a program designed specifically for endurance road cyclists of varying abilities. CCSD High-Altitude Endurance Training Camp will supply you with the skills and ability to improve your performance on all levels. A sample camp schedule follows:

Thursday: 7pm orientation meeting with altitude adjustment, nutrition strategies, climbing and descending seminars.

Friday: Skills clinic followed by 4- to 6-hour endurance ride in the Mammoth Lakes, CA vicinity with instruction covering on-the-bike cycling nutrition. Evening power, heart rate, and practical training plans seminar.

Saturday: Climbing technique clinic followed by 6- to 9-hour endurance ride in Bishop, CA vicinity to over 10,000 feet elevation with instruction on pacing. Evening sport psychology and event-day preparation seminar.

Sunday: Morning mechanic clinic with 5- to 8-hour endurance ride to over 10,000 feet elevation with instruction on event strategies in the Big Pine, CA vicinity.
